BGS' Corporate Social Responsibility Program

BGS Smartcard Systems' social responsibility program supports humanitarian organizations helping sick, injured and homeless children coveing the costs of such essential things as medication, therapy, and education.

No matter whether it's a homeless kid in Sri Lanka or children suffering from cancer in Austria, BGS Smartcard Systems provides aid and support to create a better future for those in need. Some of the donations went abroad, for example to Sri Lanka, where “Kurier Aid Austria” created a town for children who lost their parents after the Tsunami in 2004. Most of the donations helped children in Austria, as for example the organization “Austrian Children Cancer Help” (Kinder Krebs Hilfe), which strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of children with cancer. Another donation went to the organization “SOS Kinderdorf” (SOS children’s village) which provides shelter for children, perspectives for youngsters, support for poor families and quick help for disaster victims. “Licht für die Welt” – “Light for the world” is also part of the sponsorhip program; this organization helps blind people getting their eyesight back. “Blindenwerkstatt” an educational institute for blind people that seeks to improve blind people’s lives through advocacy, education, and programs encouraging independence and self-confidence, received a donation as well. Further donations went to the “Red Noses” – “Rote Nasen” – an organization that supports sick children in hospitals
making their stay more enjoyable and giving them something to look forward to.
Financial support was also granted to “Concordia” – an organization that gives homeless children hope for a brighter future; as well as to “Stiftung Kindertraum”, "Volkshilfe Österreich", and "Doctors without boarders” an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries.
